Casting – A Detective digs into the cause of a family intrigue

The Reenactment

A Detective digs into the cause of a family intrigue.

We are on the look out for several ACTORS and ACTRESSES for a modern mystery detective thriller version of the “Mousetrap” scene of the play Hamlet, set in the wintery landscape of the Snowy Mountains.

Hamlet a Detective tries to solve his father’s sudden death by recreating the crime with the help of the police and actors. The soul of Hamlet’s father has approached him and revealed that Claudius, Hamlet’s uncle, has murdered him. For this reason Hamlet the Detective arranges a recreation of the crime scene to be shown in front of his uncle, Claudius and his mother, Gertrude. This way he would be able to examine their reactions and the grade of Claudius’s guiltiness as well as find out about the trustworthiness of his father’s soul.

This no budget short film explores the themes of family intrigue, revenge and the close line between the work life and private life of a Detective as he stays in a close relationship to the victim and the murderer.

Canberra Opera presents….Scenes from Carmen and Rigoletto

May_opera_for_CT.

Join the newly incorporated Canberra Opera Inc. for a night of scenes from two of the world’s most loved operas, Carmen and Rigoletto A performance showcasing Canberra’s emerging operatic talent.

The music of Carmen has been widely acclaimed for its brilliance of melody, harmony, and atmosphere and for the skill with which Bizet represented, musically, the emotions and suffering of his characters. For this performance we have selected extended scenes from Acts One and Two. Highlights will include the Habanera, Toreador’s song and the lovely duet between Micaela and Don José.

The second half will feature an exciting abridged version of Rigoletto. It tells a tale of two cursed men, the Duke of Mantua and Rigoletto, his hunch-backed court jester. The curse is fulfilled when Gilda, Rigoletto’s daughter, falls in love with the Duke and eventually sacrifices her life to save him from the assassins hired by her father.

Rigoletto has many well-known favourites including La donna è mobile (The Duke), Caro nome (Gilda), Fawning Courtiers (Rigoletto) and The Quartet (The Duke, Gilda, Maddalena and Rigoletto). This opera is filled with revenge, hatred, love and passion. The ending should leave you horrified and feeling completely shattered.
